DAY 1/21

Good Morning Mt Hebron,

This is the first day of our 21 day fast for 2021. I am praying for and expecting God’s great work to be Manifested in our mind, body and soul.

Our commitment will include:

21 minutes of prayer & meditation each day for 21 days

21 minutes of exercise each day for 21 days.

21 days of disconnecting from the distractions around us through fasting from your choice of foods and social media and being renewed by reconnecting with God.

The Purpose of Fasting.... should be to take your eyes off the things of this world to focus completely on God.

During our 21 day Fast you will want to concentrate on prayer, Bible study, meditation, and exercise. Fasting is a great way to enter into preparation for growing in the Lord.

If you have a medical condition or are undergoing any medical treatments it is advisable to first consult your physician.

What is Fasting?

Fasting is not merely going without food for a period of time. That is dieting-maybe even starving-but but fasting it is not.

Biblical fasting is refraining from food for a spiritual purpose while primarily Focusing on prayer and fellowship with God. Fasting has always been a normal part of a relationship with God. As expressed by the impassioned plea of David in Psalm 42, fasting brings one into a deeper, more intimate and powerful relationship with the Lord.

When you eliminate food from your diet for a number of days, your spirit becomes uncluttered by the things of this world and amazingly sensitive to the things of God. As David stated, "Deep calls unto deep" (Ps. 42:7). David was fasting. His hunger and thirst for God were greater than his natural desire for food. As a result, he reached a place where he could cry out from the depths of his spirit to the depths of God, even in the midst of his trial. Once you've experienced even a glimpse of that kind of intimacy with our God-our Father, the holy Creator of the universe-and the countless rewards and blessings that follow, your whole perspective will change. You will soon realize that fasting is a secret source of power that is overlooked by many.

Read, Reflect and Meditate on Psalm 42 -

    1.    Cry out to God for Renewal.

    2.    Be real with God

    3.    Speak the truth about your  future; Since our hope is God, who always prevails.

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling me to thirst after You, the True Living God. Help me to turn to You first, trusting that my security is in You alone.  Holy Spirit, guide my wandering thoughts back to You when the the stresses of this life distract me. I pray that I would seek You, Lord, and focus less on my own abilities and strengths. God, renew my strength and cause me to mount up on wings like eagles that I may run and not be weary and that I may walk and not faint.
